Collies placed in the Herding Group 47 times with two Best in Show awards under judges Joe Purkhiser, Col., USAF, ret., and Donovan Thompson. There were also nine Group 1 awards. Two Group 1s came from Harry "Butch" Schulman and one each from Judges Robert Smith, Norman Kenney, Lisa Graser, Lesley Hiltz, Col. Joe Purkhiser, June Penta and Donovan Thompson.

Six judges awarded both the rough and the smooth a placement in the same group – Harry "Butch" Schulman (at Trenton KC / hosted by Central Jersey CC), Lesley Hiltz, Donovan Thompson, Raymond Filburn, Jr., June Penta and Jacqueline Stacy. Judges Schulman, Hiltz and Thompson awarded the collie Group 1 and 2!

Of all the placements, the Rough Variety came away with a ribbon 31 times compared to 16 for the Smooth Variety.

The month's largest number of herding dogs shown – 243 – at a show in which a collie placed – was Grand Rapids Kennel Club (the host all-breed show for Midwest Collie Club) on May 27. In this case, the honor went to the Rough Variety. The judge was William Shelton, who judged the specialty on that date. Judge Shelton's initial breed is Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
